What are subgrades?

Four separate grades on one label.

How they work

Four numbers make the one

Subgrades are four separate grades for a card's centering, corners, edges and surface, printed on the label under the overall grade. BGS is the company known for them.

  • Each is graded on its own. Centering, corners, edges and surface each get a number, and the four make up the grade.
  • A Black Label is a 10 in all four. A BGS 10 can have a subgrade below 10. A Black Label can't.
  • PSA gives one number. A PSA label has the grade and nothing under it.
